Visit to Townsend Farmhouse, Steppingley

Townsend Farmhouse, Rectory Road, Steppingley, Bedfordshire, MK45 5AT www.ngs.org.uk/find-a-garden/garden/32973/

“A tree lined driveway with young specimen trees and mature broad leaves. The garden is planted for year-round interest. In May and June, the cottage-garden style herbaceous borders are filled with early perennials while roses wind their way through apple trees and ferns begin to unfurl. Changing colours of acers, hydrangeas, dahlias, asters and other late perennials offer up a final flourish in early autumn.  Situated in the centre is a pretty cobbled courtyard with a glass house for tender specimen plants and a Victorian well 30 metres deep, viewed through a glass top.”

The cost for the visit to Townsend Farmhouse is £10 per person including refreshments.  There will also be plants for sale in aid of the national Garden Scheme.

Shared transport – leaving Riseley around 6.15pm.  Please contact Sue Davies 708614. sue@daviesps.co.uk if you would like to join us on this visit indicating whether you can offer transport or require a lift.

Coton Manor will be open for 16 days for visitors to come and see the varied selection of snowdrops and hellebores that are grown in the Garden. As usual the whole nursery is open with focus on winter and spring flowers including our own Coton snowdrop, hellebores, erythroniums, primulas, hepaticas and tulips.

We are privileged to be able to offer hellebores and snowdrops from Suffolk based Chelsea gold medal winners, Harvey's Garden Plants, including exclusive supply of Helleborus 'Winter Moonbeam', a selection of Doubles, Primrose Yellows, Slate Blue and new double flowered variety 'Tutu' with enhanced nectaries!”
